Andrew Ellington of Asheville, born on April 3, 1992, discovered his love for music at the tender age of three when he grabbed his first drumsticks, setting the stage for a lifelong musical journey in the footsteps of his grandfather, a bass player, composer, and booking agent. By the age of 8, he was making music with his brothers, and by age 13 he’d set sail on his first national tour with freshman band “Mirth Remedy”
Andrew’s passion for music deepened at Berklee College of Music in 2011, where he sharpened his skills in business & performance, and formed “Viva La Hop,” hailed as Boston’s best live hip-hop band (2013-2014). Viva La Hop’s infectious tunes quickly translated to sold out shows up & down the East Coast, sharing stages with notable icons such as Pete Rock & CL Smooth, Method Man & Redman, Talib Kweli, amongst many others Andrew booked the band with.
After Berklee (2015), Andrew’s musical journey continued into Brooklyn, where he shifted focus to producing & promoting shows at various clubs & festivals in the area, and after nearly a decade in the NE, Andrew returned to his hometown in Asheville, NC, where he opened music club, Ellington Underground, which would serve as the creative epicenter for all his musical endeavors (2018).
In 2019 – Andrew further honed his skills in talent buying, as he brokered deals and carried calendars on behalf of renowned venues & promoters in Austin, TX (2019-2022), but after many struggles throughout the pandemic, Andrew refocused on his true passion for artists in the equation, and accepted positions at Atomic Music Group as “Director of Strategic Development,” focused on diversifying the agencies roster and “Senior Agent,” currently representing top tier artists, brokering deals and routing tours far & wide on their behalf.
Outside of work life, Andrew advocate’s for mental health & wellness, as he strives to bring education & awareness to the many anxieties & struggles often experienced throughout the music industry.
